Accreditation Programs

Accreditation Programs

Domestic Accreditation

  • ACHS Assessment Teams assess the performance of healthcare organisations domestically against the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. These standards have been developed by the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC).

In order to be able to assess the national standards in Australia the ACSQHC requires all Assessors to have completed their online orientation. Details about these requirements are available here: https://www.safetyandquality.gov.au/standards/nsqhs-standards/resources-nsqhs-standards/nsqhs-standards-orientation-course

These requirements are managed by the ACSQHC and all enquiries about it should be directed to support@accreditation.freshdesk.com

In order to apply to ACHS to assess to the NSQHS standards, evidence of completion of the ACSQHC requirements is essential.

In addition, there are mandatory annual requirements that Assessors must attain in order to remain registered with the ACSQHC.

Additional Accreditation Programs

  • From time to time, ACHS will recruit Assessors for other approved accreditation programs (details available here: ACHS Healthcare Accreditation and Standards). Assessor requirements vary by program and the above requirements of the ACSQHC also do not apply to these additional programs.

International Accreditation

  • ACHS International Assessment Teams assess the performance of healthcare organisations internationally against the Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program (EQuIP). This program has been developed and maintained by ACHS since 1996 and is now in its seventh edition – EQuIP7. The above requirements of the ACSQHC do not apply to international accreditation.
