In 2023, ACHS has taken significant strides towards fostering greater inclusivity across the organisation. Some notable highlights include our Assessor Cultural Safety Training days held across the country, our People and Culture Day where our staff engaged in meaningful conversations, and the commencement of our organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). These initiatives reinforce our belief that understanding and respecting diverse perspectives are crucial to moving forward as an organisation.
Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP) assist businesses to embed the principles and purpose of reconciliation. Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, RAPs provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination.
There are four RAP types – Reflect, Innovate, Stretch and Elevate – that allow organisations to continuously develop their reconciliation commitments. ACHS kicked off our RAP process in January 2023 with the Reflect phase, aimed to embed the principles and purpose of reconciliation within our organisation governance and operations.
As we continue the Reflect phase of our RAP, we are deepening our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders. We remain committed to developing a vision for reconciliation and exploring our sphere of influence to take meaningful action. As part of the RAP Framework we have established a passionate and committed RAP Working Group (RWG) that consists of staff members, Executives, a Board Director and an Aboriginal member.
