Are you a Digital Mental Health Service looking to improve the quality of care you provide?

Accreditation gives patients confidence that you are adhering to standards of high-quality and safe care.

Digital Mental Health services are being increasingly accessed across Australia. As with any healthcare provider, users of digital mental health services expect reliable, high-quality and safe care. Adhering to standards of care builds trust and confidence with patients while ensuring that service users receive the appropriate care.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (The Commission) released the National Safety and Quality Digital Mental Health (NSQDMH) Standards in November 2020, in collaboration with consumers, carers, families, clinicians, service providers and technical experts.

The NSQDMH Standards aim to improve the quality of digital mental health service provision, and to protect service users and their support people from harm, providing a nationally consistent quality assurance that relevant systems are in place to ensure expected standards of safety and quality are met.

Benefits of Digital Mental Health Accreditation

  • Reduce the risk of harm to service users, their support people and others

  • Privacy and confidentiality mechanisms in place to protect individuals accessing digital mental health services

  • Increase overall consumer confidence by ensuring systems are in place to deliver safe and high-quality care and continuously improve services.

Accreditation Process and Duration
The ACHS NSQDMH Standards Accreditation Program is a three-year program that consists of one assessment which is completed in two stages: Desktop Review & Verification Visit.

Assessment Outcome
Three years accreditation is awarded if all applicable actions are rated met or met with recommendation. Working towards accreditation is awarded if more than half the applicable actions (but not all applicable actions) are rated met or met with recommendation.
