Working together has been a key value at ACHS throughout our 50 year history.
In celebration of 50 years of pioneering excellence in healthcare, we brought together employees from across the organisation to share in this significant milestone. We are proud of our history and involvement in advancing healthcare quality and safety, and this event provided an opportunity to share achievements and stories, and to reflect on the ongoing contributions that have helped shape the healthcare landscape in Australia.

It was great to hear personal highlights and key achievements that have affected how we support Members on their quality improvement journey. Many staff have seen several changes in the healthcare landscape over their time and how it has affected our role in supporting Members, from the establishment of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care to the recent COVID pandemic.

As part of the connection, we held a workshop centred on one of our core organisation values: Collaboration. Presented by our own ‘collaboration’ value champions, Bernie Harrison and Shelby Brennan, staff participated in fun and engaging team-building exercises that focused on working together towards a collective goal. These exercises highlighted the importance of collaboration in fostering growth and achieving the best results. This value is not just a guiding principle within our organisation—it is central to our wider mission of working with our valued Members to inspire excellence in the healthcare industry.

As part of our 50th-anniversary celebrations, we are thrilled to announce the release of new videos to our YouTube Playlist. Every month this year, we are releasing videos that feature interviews with leaders in the healthcare industry, highlighting the impact ACHS has had on patient safety and quality care. Through these stories, we explore the ways in which ACHS has influenced healthcare practices, inspired innovation, and fostered a culture of continuous improvement. Our latest video features ACHS President, Professor Len Notaras AO, who shares his time at ACHS and the impact it has had on Australian healthcare.
