Key Highlights: IHI-BMJ Forum Sydney 2022
ACHS joins healthcare leaders to discuss important issues on quality improvement and health equity at the IHI-BMJ International Forum in Sydney.
ACHS was a strategic partner at the IHI-BMJ International Forum held from the 24 – 26 July in Sydney where we took part in key discussions on effective approaches to inspire healthcare leaders, practitioners and patients towards a better, safer and higher quality of care.
The programme theme this year was ‘New Horizons: Quality Improvement Shaping the Future’. Among the presentations and sessions, some of the big topics raised were agile systems, co-production with consumers, health equity, and how quality improvement can help reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Innovative methodologies to improving patient outcomes were also discussed. Our CEO, Dr Karen Luxford, facilitated a panel session on ‘The future of safety and quality assessment’ with Derek Feeley Former IHI CEO, Scotland, Dr Helen Bevan NHS Horizons, England, Amanda Larkin Chief Executive, South Western Sydney Local Health District, Australia, Jean-Frederic Levesque Chief Executive, Agency for Clinical Innovation, Australia and Kate Bowles Consumer Representative ISLHD, Australia.
The panellists discussed disruptions to the ‘compliance model’, the development of risk-based approaches and the implications for health service assessments.
The team had the chance to connect with many colleagues, members and acquaintances at our ACHS booth. We look forward to continuing to strengthen relationships with our stakeholders and embracing safety and quality innovation through taking part in these important conversations.
