Thank you to our retiring Assessors!

We acknowledge these retiring Assessors and greatly appreciate their contributions.

ACHS extends a heartfelt, sincere thank you to 10 Assessors who after numerous years of service have decided to retire.

“We are extraordinarily fortunate to have had their commitment and contributions for many years, and we are appreciative of their combined efforts,” said Dr Lena Low, Executive Director – Corporate & Assessor Divisions. 
“There is nearly 200 years of collective experience and an indefinable amount of learned wisdom in this group of Assessors.

“Two have been Assessors for more than 30 years – Robert Griffin and Shirley Batho, and there are four with more than 20 years of experience. 

“Each Assessor has had their own special talents and areas of expertise, and there is a wealth of knowledge with this cohort who have provided benefit for our members,” said Dr Low.

The opportunity to assess since the arrival of the pandemic in March 2020 had been reduced mainly due to lockdowns and some Assessors made the decision to retire during this time.

Shirley Batho thanked ACHS for the wonderful opportunities we had provided her with over the years. “I hope that despite the COVID virus ACHS continues to ensure that there is a high-quality standard of health services in this country and beyond’, Shirley said.  “One of my favourite things was watching quality improvements within the various Health systems over many years and particularly within organisations I had visited more than once,” she added.

Gus (Garret) Hunter said: “I enjoyed the wide variety and scope of the clinical situations I found myself in.  I also enjoyed the interaction with the other wide range of Assessors.”
